    Wonderful 1940's Baby/Infant Coat & Bonnet - w/Embroidery & Lace
    Description:
So silky satiny soft with a lining inside and into the sleeves, and the pleated front and back yolk, this is an adorable set.  Looks as though it could have been hand stitched in some areas and machine sewn in others.  There is lace triming the collar and cuffed sleeves, and a ribbon tie at the collar where two tiny buttons close it.  The matching bonnet has a double row of lace and also a netting type pleated piece trimming it as well.  It seems to be in good condition except a spot on the left side of the collar underneath that looks as though whatever happened, and although it doesn't show unless you turn the collar over, it was repaired, and there is an area on the front left side that has tiny brown spots, not sure from what, but it doesn't detract from the delightful charm of this old set. Take a moment to view
    all
of the pictures, enlarging them if you need to...I am sure the proud parents of the infant wearing the coat and hat doted with pride at their beautiful baby.  I don't see a size inside or a label at all, but it looks to have been made with a certain quality of workmanship and care.  Measures 11-1/2" across the back shoulders and 16" long from the middle of the back collec to the hem at the bottom.  The sleeves are 10 from the yold to the little cuff, and it has a 2" hem before you get to the thicker lining inside.  You may want to have it steam pressed as it has been folded and put away for decades.  It will be a nice piece to display in a shadow box setting or on a doll or childs mannequin in an antique store.  Sure to draw attention!
