Description
New, vintage (early years 70'), pulsed xenon - filled, high energy, linear flashlamp to pump large Nd:glass or ruby laser rods, type VQX 1515 (M), made by Verre et Quartz, France. The linear design assures the best pump efficiency in an elliptical pumping chamber, ideal for a large laser rod oscillator or amplifier. Discharge dimensions: 13 mm dia.x 150 mm length, ideally should match the laser rod size. Good for rods of 11 mm - 15 mm dia. and 140 mm - 160 mm length.Outside dimensions: diameter 15 mm, total length (with electrodes) 210 mm. New, never used, in original unopened plastic bag. Operating DC voltage V
0
= 0.9 kV - 2.5 kV. Max. safe operating energy (for critically damped RLC circuit, 1,000 us (us= microsecond) pulse duration, and min. 25,000 - 30,000 pulses lifetime): E
max
= 2.2 kJ. Typical explosion energy (for critically damped RLC circuit, 1,000 us pulse duration, and few pulses lifetime): E
X
= 7.4 kJ. Typical operating regime: capacitor C = 1,500 uF (uF = microfarad); inductor L = 74 uH (uH = microhenry); nominal DC voltage in capacitor V
0
= 1.6 kV; nominal stored energy E
0
= 1.9 kJ; pulse duration 1,000 us; expected lifetime (no. of pulses) 100,000 - 120,000. Max. ave. power in open air: 550 W; max. ave. power in forced air: 1,700 W; max. ave. power in water: 3,500 W. Typical trigger voltage: 25 kV - 30 kV. For detailed characteristics of this and alike flashlamps and circuitry, please see the actual CatalogueVerre et Quartz, at: flashlamps-vq.com/CatalogueVQF.pd
