    Description

    Laser Photonics YQL-102D
For sale- a Laser Photonics YQL-102D, which I believe to be an Nd:YAG pulsed laser with a primary output at 1064nm.
I couldn’t find a whole lot on the 102D variant which I am guessing is something of an update on the original YQL-102.
The 102 is mentioned on Sam’s- “The best description of this laser is that it is an SSY1 on steroids”, with the SSY1 apparently having been a YAG laser developed for the rangefinder in the M1 tank.
So I am guessing that for that application it was probably a pretty hardy design.
Their description of the 102 includes a note that the power supply section weighs about 75 pounds, the PS for this one hits the scales at about 51, don’t know whether that means it is less beefy or simply took advantage of more modern circuitry.
They do say that a chunk of that weight is the steel enclosure and I think this one is all aluminum so that no doubt made a difference.
They do make clear that the SSY1, and presumably by extension the 102, is a Class IV laser not to be trifled with, so even though it is set up for 110 volts and for once it looks like it came with all the cables required I have no interest in burning up the old eyeballs trying to fire it up.
I will note that whoever put this thing out to pasture at NASA lovingly covered the laser aperture with masking tape and also the ends of the coolant hoses.
I doubt they would have gone to that trouble if the thing had been a basket case.
The surplus condition code would theoretically indicate it should be functional, but beyond briefly powering up the power supply section it has not been tested further.
I can say that the coolant pump spooled right up so I kept the on time to just long enough to snap a few pictures.
There is a bit of coolant left in it, if you have any suggestions as to how to drain that last bit that would be appreciated.
Fortunately it came to surplus late enough that we are past any hard freezes.
The interior of both the laser head and the power supply are exceptionally clean and do not show any evidence of a coolant leak.
Untested other than as described and pictured, sold as is, and NO warranty is offered.
However, IF you pay the asking price and find it has a problem you cannot live with within 14 days of receipt you may return it.
Returns are ONLY allowed on Buy It Now Purchases.
Accepted Best Offers are strictly an as is sale, no returns allowed.
Return would be for a refund of the purchase price, not including shipping costs.
Just so that we are clear on that, this is an item that has not been thoroughly tested.
As such it may work fine or it may have problems, so any purchase entails a certain degree of risk.
If you Buy It Now your risk is limited to the shipping costs both ways.
If you submit an offer you do so knowing that you cannot return it.
In either case it is up to you to decide whether the risk level is acceptable to you, and if not you need to pass on this particular item.
When I opened up the power supply I noticed what I assume is either an hour or a shot meter, but the display seems to be messed up.
I powered it up again briefly just to see if it might tell me anything but even with the interlock switch depressed the display showed nothing.
    Oh well, I tried.

Sold as is, as described, as pictured.
Potential buyers are asked to please make sure you have read the listing carefully, and understand what you are buying.
Ebay’s condition codes for used items, which I am now required to select from, might imply a degree of functionality that my limited time, knowledge, and facilities do not allow me to ascertain.
If the functional condition of the item is known it will be stated as such in the listing.
Unless a warranty is specifically offered returns are not accepted regardless of any implied functionality.
Payment is expected within 7 days of the close of the sale and I need to hear from you within 3 days to confirm the transaction.
Because of the weight and/or bulk of the item I have chosen to let ebay’s shipping calculator figure out the cost based on your zip code.
It would be shipping from 27948 in a box presumed to be 85 pounds.
It will actually most likely ship in two boxes 25 and 60 pounds but the idiots that designed the ebay shipping software apparently cannot conceive of a shipment in more than one box.
Two boxes probably costs more than one but the calculator seems to overestimate so in this case it should be about right.
If the device being offered here requires a standard modular computer style AC cord I NO LONGER ship those automatically as most people have accumulated a box of them by now.
IF you need such an AC cord please request
